Pain

Ugh. I have this old repetitive motion injury (from too many hours in front of a computer, using the mouse from a slouching position or something), and playing cello is kicking it up. After I play, even only for half an hour or so, I get pain in my upper arm and back on my right side. I'm actually pretty nervous; the phrase "permanent nerve damage" keeps going through my head. From the start, playing cello has made my back hurt, and I've been going to the chiropractor and doing yoga stretches to try to get flexible so it won't set me off. But the RMI is a different kettle of fish. It's a deep injury that gets easily inflamed. It's making me scared to play, which can't be good for learning.

In sunnier news, I played a new ensemble piece with the kids today, and though I was DEFINITELY the weak link in the chain, it was great fun. I vow to stop apologizing.
